It is with much sadness and love that the family of Olga Shkopich announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Olga, who passed on to her eternal heavenly home Sunday January 28th, 2018 at the age of ninety-four years.
Olga was born in White Russia immigrating to Canada in 1933 with her mother and siblings, Luba and Alex. Her father, John Dikowicki had come to Canada seven years earlier. John worked as a labourer, saving his hard-earned money to prepare a home for his family and finally brought them to his farm in the Meadow River District. Olga worked diligently and faithfully on the farm and attended school at Meadow River.
In nineteen fourty-eight Olga married Mike Shkopich and settled on their farm south of the town of Meadow Lake in the Rialto District. They had four children and Olga’s family was the center of her life. Olga was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was a tender-hearted woman who unselfishly and lovingly nurtured everyone who came into her life. Her many friends and neighbours remembered her for her hospitality and friendship.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Olga are her sons Roy Shkopich (Irene) and Peter (Kathy) Shkopich and daughter Mary (Jim) Berezowsky as well as their children and grandchildren. Olga was predeceased by her loving husband Mike and son George. Her parents John and Olga Dikowicki, her sister Luba Klebuc and brother Alex Dikowicki.
The family would like to give special thanks to those who assisted Olga, those who visited, watched over her and assisted her with her yard and her residence in
Meadow Lake, where Mom resided until her passing.
Olga’s family thanks you for honouring the memory of our beloved mother with your presence and expressions of love and sympathy.
